Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Nottingham Forest: Ozil captain, Tierney starts, Bellerin on the bench

Mesut Ozil will captain a youthful Arsenal side that sees a first start for Kieran Tierney at the club and a return for Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding after spells on the sidelines with ACL injuries.

Tierney has been named in an Arsenal squad for the first time since his £25million arrival from Celtic whilst two other defenders, Holding and Bellerin, are back in the squad after lengthy spells on the sideline.

Ozil will start as No.10 in a youthful attack with Gabriel Martinelli leading the line, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe patrolling the flanks and Joe Willock and Lucas Torreira starting in midfield.

football.london understands that Tyreece John-Jules, who might well have started had he been available, has missed out due to a slight knock he is carrying.

Describing his approach to selecting his team tonight, Emery said: "The most important thing is to decide on the right team, and to achieve the best performance we can from those 11 players, and the subs, to produce the right performance and to win the game.

"Our objective is clear in this way, we will set up the best first XI, including some young players, to give us the best chance to beat Nottingham Forest."
