Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Newcastle as Aubameyang, Martinelli and Luiz return, Ryan starts

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made his return to the Arsenal starting line up for their Premier League fixture with Newcastle at St. James' Park.

The 31-year-old is starting his first game in around a month after having contracted malaria while on international duty with Gabon in March.

His return is one of eight changes Mikel Arteta makes to the side that lost 2-1 to Villarreal in the Europa League semi final first leg in midweek.

Mat Ryan is back in goal, while David Luiz makes his own return from a knee injury to partner Gabriel at the back for the Gunners.

Granit Xhaka continues at left back while Hector Bellerin replaces Calum Chambers to complete the back four.

Dani Ceballos - who is suspended for the second leg against Villarreal after being sent off at Estadio de la Ceramica on Thursday - keeps his place alongside the returning Mohamed Elneny.

Brazilian duo Gabriel Martinelli and Willian come back in on the wings while Martin Odegaard continues in the number 10 role.

There is no place on the bench for Kieran Tierney who is still hoping to fit in time for Thursday night's crucial match at the Emirates, while Alexandre Lacazette is still out through his hamstring injury sustained against Fulham two weeks ago.

Arsenal Starting XI vs Newcastle: Ryan; Bellerin, Luiz, Gabriel, Xhaka; Ceballos, Elneny; Willian, Odegaard, Martinelli; Aubameyang.

Subs: Leno, Mari, Chambers, Cedric, Partey, Smith Rowe, Saka, Pepe, Nketiah
