Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Manchester City: Tierney cleared to start, Partey on the bench

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has handed Thomas Partey his Premier League debut against Manchester City.

The £45m deadline day signing from Atletico Madrid has only been involved in two training sessions since joining up with his new team-mates at London Colney on Wednesday.

Partey's inclusion also sees Kieran Tierney come back into the squad after he was initially told to self-isolate for 14 days after coming into contact with team-mate Stuart Armstrong who tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Arteta's in-form side are without long-term absentees Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring), Pablo Mari (ankle), Gabriel Martinelli and Calum Chambers (both knee).

Guardiola's side were on the receiving end of a 5-2 defeat to Leiceter City before the international break, but Arteta believes that the efficiency of his old team is still there and suggests that their recent results do not reflect their general performance level.

"I am really happy with the way we managed to win the game and how patient we were, and the improvements compared with last year against this type of opposition but again, we know the level of difficulty at Manchester City will be another level.

"They are still producing incredible numbers in everything that they are doing. In my opinion, they have been really unlucky with some of the results they got because they should have put games to bed very early in those games, and then the level of efficiency of the opponents when they had half chances have punished them a lot.

"But I haven't seen any decrease in the level of the way they are playing or in what they are producing game by game. I haven't seen any of that."

Confirmed Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Xhaka, Ceballos, Saka, Willian, Auba, Pepe.
