Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Liverpool: Mesut Ozil starts as Hector Bellerin captains Gunners

Mesut Ozil will make his first start for Arsenal in over a month after being named in Unai Emery's side to take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

The 31-year-old, Arsenal's best-paid player, has not featured since the third round win over Nottingham Forest but will play at No.10 in a side that also includes senior players Lucas Torreira and Rob Holding. Both Unai Emery and Jurgen Klopp have also named a string of youngsters in their side.

Arsenal will be captained by Hector Bellerin and have senior options including Alexandre Lacazette, Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe on the bench.

Unai Emery had already confirmed Ozil's involvement in the squad in his pre-match press conference, saying: "We need his quality, his skill and his consistency.

"We need his positive mentality and then he will help us on the pitch. That's the next step. I think he's done the steps before, and now I want the steps like in pre-season and one month ago to help us on the pitch."

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Calum Chambers and David Luiz have all been left behind with a view to Saturday's Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
