Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Leeds: Ozil, Pepe, Lacazette start as Mikel Arteta deploys new system

Mikel Arteta has named a strong Arsenal side to take on Championship high-flyers Leeds with Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe starting.

Arteta appears to have named a three man defence for the first time in his tenure having previously used a 4-2-3-1. On this occasion he looks set to use a 3-4-3 with Reiss Nelson and Sead Kolasinac playing at wing-back.

Ozil, Pepe and Lacazette make up the front three though it remains to be seen whether the German will retain his central role or whether he and Pepe will play wide in support of Lacazette, who will captain Arsenal.

Meanwhile Rob Holding makes his first start since November 9 having been sidelined with bruising on his knee, partnering David Luiz and Sokratis in central defence.

Kieran Tierney (shoulder) and Calum Chambers (knee ligament) are long-term absentees, the latter having been ruled out on Thursday for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery.

Arteta had indicated a desire to take the competition seriously in his pre-match press conference, saying: "That habit of winning, winning, winning after when you win you don't want to stop winning. You become addicts to that. We have to try to implement that at this football club.

"When you take the fans to Wembley it's a different scenario, something they're proud of. It's a special day. They travel with their family.

"They're looking for success again for this football club, they're used to that, there's a history relating to that. I think it generates something special."

Arsenal XI: Martinez; Luiz, Sokratis, Holding; Nelson, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Kolasinac; Ozil; Lacazette, Pepe
