Folarin Balogun makes his first Premier League start for Arsenal in their opening game of the season against Brentford.
The 20-year-old signed a new long-term contract at the end of last season and has been assured first team minutes by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta in the current campaign.
Calum Chambers starts at right-back ahead of Hector Bellerin, while newboys Ben White and Sambi Lokonga also feature in the team.
Granit Xhaka starts in the middle of the park, with Nicolas Pepe, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli also in attack.
Arteta is without Alexandre Lacazette and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the game at the Brentford Community Stadium, with both players missing out through illness.
