Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Aston Villa: Bukayo Saka starts but Mesut Ozil left on the bench

Bukayo Saka has retained his place in Unai Emery's Arsenal side to take on Aston Villa... a team that has no room for Mesut Ozil.

Saka earns a reward for his goal and two assists in the 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday but the German playmaker has surprisingly been left out with Arsenal making six changes from his midweek side.

Emery had opted to leave Ozil out of the travelling squad that went to Frankfurt for a Europa League tie but stopped short of confirming that the 30-year-old would start against Villa.

"The first game he played on Sunday he played physically well, giving us his capacity," Emery told football.london before the 3-0 win in the Commerzbank Arena.

"His first minutes for us this season were good and now he will be helping us, not tomorrow, but Sunday we have another match."

Arsenal are still without Alexandre Lacazette, who is also expected to miss the trip to Old Trafford on September 30.

Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Konstantinos Mavropanos featured for the Under-23s against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday, the former two completing 62 minutes whilst the latter played the full 90.

Arsenal XI: Leno; Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Luiz, Kolasinac; Xhaka, Guendouzi, Ceballos; Pepe, Aubameyang, Saka
