Confirmed Arsenal XI as Mat Ryan starts and Pepe continues in attack against Aston Villa

Mat Ryan makes his Arsenal debut as the Gunners take on Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The goalkeeper, signed on loan from Brighton in January, has made a timely return from injury to feature in between the sticks with Bernd Leno serving a one game suspension following his red card against Wolves.

Gabriel replaces David Luiz who is also serving a one match suspension, while Nicolas Pepe continues in attack after scoring three goals in his last four league starts.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey make up the central midfield partnership while Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe make up a strong attacking partnership.

Alexandre Lacazette starts upfront while the substitutes bench includes the likes of Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard, Willian and Gabriel Martinelli as options to come off the bench.

The returning Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played 30 minutes of the second half against Wolves but the Arsenal captain is on the bench for the lunchtime kick-off at Villa Park.

Arsenal XI vs Aston Villa: Ryan, Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Cedric, Xhaka, Partey, Saka, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Lacazette

Subs: Runarsson, Chambers, Mari, Elneny, Ceballos, Odegaard, Willian, Martinelli, Aubameyang.
