Confirmed Arsenal team news vs Brighton as Nuno Tavares misses out but Sambi Lokonga starts

Nuno Tavares misses out for Arsenal from the starting XI for the Premier League clash with Brighton.

The Portuguese full back had started Monday's match with Crystal Palace after Kieran Tierney was ruled out injured for the rest of the season with a knee problem, but was withdrawn at half time after a poor performance.

He was replaced at Selhurst Park by Gabriel Martinelli and the Brazilian comes into the line up from the start this time, although it is not totally clear which position he will be in. Presumably he will start on the right wing with Granit Xhaka starting at left back.

Thomas Partey who is also potentially out for the season after picking a thigh problem in the 3-0 loss to Patrick Vieira's men is replaced in the starting line up by Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Youngsters Mazeez Ogungbo, Miguel Azeez, Omari Hutchinson and Zak Swanson have all travelled with what is a depleted line up for Mikel Arteta's men as they seek to achieve Champions League qualification for the first time in half a decade.

Emile Smith Rowe continues in the side but presumably moves into a more central role as a free eight, with Martin Odegaard playing on the other side.

Alexandre Lacazette meanwhile continues up front as the main striker despite not scoring in over 19 hours of open play.

Arsenal starting XI vs Brighton: Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Gabriel, Xhaka; Sambi Lokonga, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Saka, Lacazette, Martinelli.
