Confirmed Arsenal starting XI vs Valencia: Mesut Ozil, Matteo Guendouzi, Shkodran Mustafi start

Mesut Ozil has returned to an Arsenal side that includes Shkodran Mustafi and Matteo Guendouzi as Arsenal bid to overcome Valencia in the Europa League semi-final, first leg.

Ozil missed the 3-0 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday with a bruised foot but was never considered a serious doubt to feature in the first leg of the semi-final.

Meanwhile Shkodran Mustafi is preferred to Nacho Monreal, who had been suffering a calf injury, whilst Matteo Guendouzi replaces Lucas Torreira in midfield.

Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and Denis Suarez (groin) were ruled out for the remainder of the season this week, joining Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding (both knee) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) on the sidelines.

Arsenal have an impressive record at home in Europe; they have dropped just two points in the competition at the Emirates Stadium and have not conceded a goal at their ground in the competition since their opening match. However their away form has been no less wretched.

Regardless of the result tonight Emery is refusing to take anything in the tie for granted.

"You need to play 90 minutes thinking we are going to play another 90 minutes. It is not all finished tomorrow," he said in his pre-match press conference. "If you can win, it's good, if you can win without conceding a goal, it's perfect.

"We need to manage 90 minutes and be solid, be strong and be clear in our minds with the possibilities with the result. Our idea tomorrow is to win."

Arsenal XI: Cech; Sokratis, Koscielny, Mustafi; Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Kolasinac; Ozil; Lacazette, Aubameyang
