DeSean Jackson gave Eagles fans a glimpse of the chemistry he and Carson Wentz developed during the 2019 season opener, but it was short-lived after a core muscle injury.
As the Eagles prepare to retool the entire roster, Jackson expects to be an integral part of the 2020 season and recently made a bold prediction to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
“I’ll be back stronger than ever,” Jackson said during an XFL game in Los Angeles last weekend.
Jackson missed 13 total games due to injury before ultimately undergoing core muscle surgery in November. After a season that was essentially a redshirt year, Jackson is ready to further cement his status in Eagles’ history.
“I’m just trying to shatter all the records that I haven’t gotten yet,” Jackson said. “Jerry Rice still holds one of them and I was fortunate last year to get up there with Randy Moss. Continuously going after the greats but at the same time being blessed to be in a position I’m at and taking nothing for granted. Going out there every day and putting in the work. Longevity is a big thing in the league, a lot of guys not able to make it to where I’m at, so I’m continuing to count my blessings.”
Jackson currently ranks 8th in Eagles history with 365 catches, 4th in yards with 6,276 yards and 9th in total touchdowns with 34 scores.
Jackson currently ranks fifth among active players, with 10,420 career yards, putting him behind only Larry Fitzgerald (17,083), Jason Witten (12,977), Julio Jones (12,125) and Antonio Brown (11,263).
A healthy Jackson along with an influx of youth at the wide receiver position is just what the doctor ordered for the Eagles offense.
