'Confident' - Barnsley boss provides update on Nottingham Forest and Alex Mowatt

Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber has his fingers crossed that Nottingham Forest target Alex Mowatt will remain at Oakwell beyond the end of the January transfer window.

The former Leeds United man has been linked with a move to the City Ground this month.

Barnsley have also seen clubs show interest in striker Cauley Woodrow after the former Fulham man hit nine goals in just 22 appearances since making his move to south Yorkshire a permanent one.

While Forest are reportedly monitoring Barnsley midfielder Mowatt, but he is unlikely to be a top priority during the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic, head coach Sabri Lamouchi is keen to strengthen the Reds promotion push with a striker and a winger this month.

But Struber hopes that Mowatt is going nowhere.

"Cauley is injured and I expect him to be back in two weeks and it is very important that by the end of January, he can play," he explained, when quizzed on the future of Woodrow and Mowatt.

"I am confident that Cauley and Alex will remain at Barnsley," he added.
