Jan. 30--Gustavo Dudamel, the rock-star conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, has bought a house in Los Feliz for $2.775 million.
This is not Dudamel's first foray into Los Angeles real estate. He bought a house in the nearby Hollywood Hills four years ago for $1.85 million.
His new purchase is a 1923 Four Square-style house with Mediterranean flair.
Framed by mature palm trees and set up from the street, the 3,600-square-foot house retains its Juliet balconies, high coved ceilings and large windows. The space has been updated, however, with stylish new interiors, a state-of-the-art security system and an oversized kitchen.
A center hall, dining and living rooms, den, breakfast area, butler's pantry, study, three bedrooms and four bathrooms make up the rest of the house.
A swimming pool, gardens and patios complete the grounds.
The property previously sold last year for $1.82 million. The interiors were renovated and the pool added.
Dudamel, 34, has been music director of the L.A. Phil since 2009 and is under contract through 2019. The enthusiastic conductor brings a boundless energy and passion to the podium.
Boni Bryant and Joe Reichling of Sotheby's International Realty were the listing agents, while Kennon Earl and Thomas Davila of Keller Williams represented Dudamel, the Multiple Listing Service shows.
