Police are investigating the potential involvement of a Canberra concreting company and local contractors in cross-border drug supply, following the seizure of almost $1 million worth of cocaine.
Investigators are now appealing to the public for help, expressing concerns that people with valuable information are withholding it.
NSW Police revealed on Wednesday that officers from the Southern Region Enforcement Squad and ACT Policing had raided a storage complex in Queanbeyan on April 3.
During their search on Aurora Avenue, they found and seized more than two kilograms of cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $900,000.
A large amount of a drug cutting agent, later identified as caffeine and Inositol, and drug paraphernalia was also seized.
A 22-year-old man from the Tuggeranong suburb of Kambah was arrested at the time of the raid, but he was released pending further investigation.
Strike Force Rogal has since been set up to examine the cocaine and its potential links to a Canberra-based concreting company, which police have not publicly named.
Detective Chief Inspector Joe Thone, the NSW Southern Region Enforcement Squad commander, said on Wednesday that police believed some in the community were withholding crucial information.
"We have spoken to a number of people during our investigations so far and our officers are currently following several lines of inquiry, including forensic evidence and the involvement of local contractors in the supply of drugs between the ACT and NSW," he said.
"We believe there are people out there who know something, but who are not willing to come forward.
"We will continue to target those engaging in the supply of illicit drugs, and rest assured anyone who engages in these activities will face the full brunt of the law."
