The city region's transport authority has rejected claims of problems with its new technology at the Mersey Tunnels.
T-FLOW is the new video tolling system that has been installed at the Mersey Tunnels. The technology reads a vehicle's registration as it approaches the toll lane and, providing the driver's account is in credit, it will automatically be raised so that the person can pass through without stopping.
The system has replaced the Fast Tag technology, which saw drivers place a identification device inside their cars that allowed them to pass straight through the barriers if they were in credit.

The ECHO has received some reports in recent weeks from drivers who have found themselves struggling to smoothly pass through the tunnels with the new technology.
One driver said that on multiple times the technology has failed to recognise their number plate. On one occasion when they asked the staff member in the booth at the tunnels they told them the technology was struggling to recognise certain letters and numbers - including specifically the letter J.
But these are claims that have been rejected by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, who said there is no issues with the technology. A spokesperson said any problems that have have come from specific issues with certain number plates.

The spokesperson said: “Our Video tolling system is operating as expected. The system is accurately reading over 99% of all vehicle registration plates in lane and is used by these customers without any issues.
"In a very small number of cases, the system is not able to pick up and accurately read plates. This could be for a range of reasons such as reflective plates, or the number plate is dirty or damaged.
"We would be happy to work with any customers who experience these issues to help advise how best to resolve them.”
