Leeds United fans have revealed their concerns over the futures of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha following the club's slow start to the season.
Both players have been the subject of plenty of transfer conjecture over the last 12 months thanks to their excellent form, with Brazilian attacker Raphinha one of the few bright spots in a poor run of form that has seen the Whites win just two of their opening 10 Premier League matches.
Phillips, meanwhile, has become a key player for England, and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.
Whilst the Whites have so far managed to resist any transfer interest in the duo, the club’s slow start to the season has increased fans’ fears that they will struggle to keep hold of the pair.
In a Leeds Live survey that gained over 19,000 responses, just 24% of supporters said they were either not concerned at all, or not very worried about the futures of Raphinha and Phillips.
Over a quarter of fans said they were ‘quite’ worried about the duo, with a further 27% admitting they were ‘very’ concerned and 22% of respondents revealing they were ‘extremely’ concerned.
With the January transfer window now under two months away, fans gave their view on how to fix the Whites’ current problems, with 24% of supporters arguing that Ross Barkley should be targeted.
Fans were clear in there message that a midfielder is needed to ease the burden on Phillips, with 20% of replies arguing that Nahitan Nandez should be a targeted, and a further 17% stating that Todd Cantwell, previously linked to Elland Road in the summer, should be an option.
Such transfer options won’t come cheap, with 37% of fans accepting that £30m needs to be spent in January to strengthen the squad.
Thirty-two per cent of fans argued that £50m needs to be spent on reinforcements, whilst 12% feel that £75m should be spent - a move that would buck the trend of previous January transfer windows, which have been quiet affairs.
