Concerns over Aviva Stadium pitch ahead of FAI Cup final between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk

The Aviva Stadium pitch is a cause of concern ahead of the FAI Cup final.

Shamrock Rovers clash with Dundalk in Sunday's decider, but the Ireland rugby team are currently playing Scotland at the Dublin 4 venue and the playing surface has been cutting up badly since the game got underway at 2.15pm.

The ground staff at the stadium now look to have a huge challenge on their hands to repair the pitch ahead of tomorrow's final, which gets underway at 6.40pm.

A number of football fans took to social media to voice their concerns over the playing surface.

One said: "Aviva pitch going to be in a bad state for the final tomorrow looking at it with the rugby on."

Another added: "Flicked on the rugby to see the state of the pitch at the Aviva."

The Hoops are aiming to win a double after cruising to their 18th league title this season, with Dundalk finishing back in third.

Rovers defeated the Lilywhites on penalties in last year's final to win the Cup for the first time since 1987.
