Concerns growing for missing Scots man as police launch search

A missing Scot who hasn't been seen since Saturday has sparked a major police investigation.

Kevin Hughes was reported missing when he didn't turn up for work on Monday.

The 53-year-old was last seen at around 11am on Saturday.

Kevin, who comes from Dumfries, was spotted at the town's Cuckoo Bridge Retail Park that day and hasn't been seen since.

He has access to a Mini Cooper registration number KJ05 00Y which is believed to be white or cream in colour.

Officers looking for Kevin say they are 'concerned for his welfare' as it is 'unusual' for him not to be in touch with loved ones and colleagues.

Police think he might have travelled to the Ayr area of South Ayrshire.

Kevin is described as white and around five foot, five inches tall.

He has short hair, a long, grey, goatee-style beard and tattoos on both arms.

His accent might be a mixture of Liverpudlian and Scottish.

When last seen, Kevin was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, a dark t-shirt, dark jeans and white Adidas trainers.

Police are urging those who have seen Kevin, or who have any information regarding his whereabouts, to get in touch.

Inspector Colin McKinstry, Dumfries, said: "Kevin was reported missing to Police when he didn't turn up for work on Monday, July 19.

"It is unusual for him to not be in touch with colleagues, family or friends.

"We are concerned for his welfare and want to trace him to ensure he is safe and well.

"If you have seen Kevin, his car, or have any information which could assist in tracing him, please get in touch with Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference number 0743 of Tuesday July 20, 2021."
