Concerns grow for Aberdeenshire man who vanished from taxi involved in crash

Police are stepping up their searches for a missing Aberdeenshire man who disappeared more than a week ago.

William Hay was last spotted leaving a taxi after it had been involved in a minor crash at around 3.10am on Sunday, December 8.

The family of the 35-year-old are now growing increasingly concerned for his welfare as officers continue to trace his whereabouts.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they will be carrying out searches on the A98 from MacDuff towards Crudie on Tuesday.

He has been described as being 5ft 10ins, with slim build and a gaunt appearance.

William was last spotted wearing a green waterproof jacket, dark blue jeans, a red and clean checked shirt, with a black beanie hat or snood at the time of his disappearance.

Inspector Graham Greig said: “Today, we are carrying out searches on the A98 which was the route from the road traffic collision back to near his home address.

“I would like to thank the local communities of Macduff and Fraserburgh for their continued support and I would reiterate our appeal for anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they may feel it to be, to make contact with police.”

A spokesperson for the force added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0788 of December 8."
