Police and family have concerns for the welfare of a missing 43-year-old Canberra woman.

Police said Mary Perez was last seen near her home in Gordon about 1.30pm on Wednesday. She is described as about 160cm (5'2") tall, with an olive complexion, slim build, long dark hair and brown eyes.

"Police and Mary's family hold concerns for her welfare, and are calling on the public's assistance to locate her," police said in a statement.

They asked anyone who had seen her or who had information about her whereabouts to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444 and quote reference 6511701.
