Concerns as West Lothian youths gather in huge groups for parties and 'fireraisings'

Police Scotland have appealed for the help of West Lothian locals after huge groups of youths continue to meet up for parties across the county.

Teens in West Lothian have reportedly been meeting in large numbers and causing 'significant' antisocial behaviour issues and disorder such as vandalism, thefts and wilful fireraisings.

Cops say that the behaviour is not only having an impact on the local community, but also putting the young people involved at risk due to Covid.

Officers wrote on Facebook of the dangers facing West Lothian families: " Coronavirus is still very much with us and the gathering of large groups is still prohibited, and this does including gatherings of young people. Remember that young persons could well bring coronavirus back to your household and infect family members."

West Lothian police have now appealed directly to parents and carers to help them combat the issue writing:

"Where is your child going tonight?
Can or could they get access to alcohol?
Have they come home drunk?
Do they smell of smoke?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions then please challenge them. We need you all to do you bit to help us, to protect your children and to make your town a safe place to live, work and visit."
