Concern over Venezuela editor's murder

The murder of an editor in Venezuela has raised questions about the safety of that country's journalists. Joaquin Tovar, editor of the weekly Ahora, wrote a column in which he criticised both the government and Venezuela's political opposition. He was shot 11 times earlier this month in Caracas but there is a belief that his killing is not being properly investigated. A similar complaint has been made about the April 5 murder of Jorge Aguirre, a photographer with the paper, El Mundo. (Via usinfo.state.gov)
