Concern growing for missing hillwalker who became separated from friends at Loch Lee

An urgent search has been launched for a missing hillwalker who became separated from his friends on a day trip to Loch Lee in Angus.

Aberdeen student Usman Qamar was with a group of friends in the area of the Falls of Unich and Damff.

He was last seen around 12pm on Saturday, as he appears to have become separated from them.

Usman is described as being an Asian male of medium build with a black beard and hair, although thinning on top. He also wears glasses.

At the time of going missing he was wearing a lightweight grey soft shell waterproof jacket with red lining, black jeans and black trainers.

He was carrying a dark green Berghaus rucksack which contained basic food supplies and additional clothing.

Mountain Rescue Teams and Air Support are in the area conducting searches of where Usman was last seen.

His family and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

They are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts or anyone who may have saw Usman to get in touch with police on 101, quoting incident 2490 of Saturday 19th March 2022.
