Concern growing for missing Edinburgh woman as police issue CCTV image to help trace her

A young woman has uncharacteristically gone missing as police appeal for information to help trace her.

Bervely Chaleka, 25, was last seen in the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh on Monday September 20.

A CCTV image released by Police Scotland shows her in front of a till in a shop shortly before her disappearance.

Bervely had been wearing a white headscarf or bandana, a navy jacket and light patterned, loose fitting trousers.

Now Bervely is known to have travelled in to the city centre on Monday evening to visit shops on Princes Street and she was seen sitting at the tram stop at St Andrews Square between 7:30pm – 9:30pm before walking away northwards.

The 25-year-old has been described as a black female, around 5ft 7ins in height with short black hair.

Inspector Keith Forrester from Wester Hailes Police Station said: “It is out of character for Bervely to go away and not keep in contact with her family.

"Her family are worried therefore if anyone has seen Bervely since Monday, or who has any information regarding her whereabouts, is urged to contact us.

The detective added: “Thank you for sharing my previous post and for the feedback so far.
