Concern as West Lothian man John Carr goes missing after heading out to shops

A man in West Lothian has gone missing after heading out to go shopping, with his family growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

John Carr, 63, went to get the bus to Bathgate from his home in Riddochill Drive, Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.

He hasn't been in touch since 12.30pm yesterday and his disappearance is completely out of character.

Anyone who knows where he might be is urged to contact Police Scotland.

Inspector Craig Pirie said: "John said he was heading out to get the bus to Bathgate for shopping but for whatever reason he has not come back.

"He's not been missing before and so to not return home and be be out of touch with family is unusual and concerning for family and police.

"We have been searching the area and checking CCTV as well as liaising with bus and taxi companies. So far there has been one unconfirmed sighting of John late last night at the bus stance at the shopping centre in Livingstone, however, nothing since then.

"We would ask people to keep an eye out for him and if he's seen, or if you know where he may be, then contact officers at Livingston Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 3252 of 7 March 2020 when calling."

John is 5ft 7in tall with a stocky build, and walks with a stick.

He was wearing a dark grey top, blue v-neck jumper with cream edges, a black jacket and dark shoes.
