Concern as Dublin Bus route to avoid Jobstown during General Election 2020 as NBRU strike over anti-social behaviour

Concerns have been raised as Dublin Bus drivers are set to curtail its services into Jobstown on General Election day.

The NBRU has announced a curtailment of the 27 bus service into the west Tallaght area tomorrow, February 8.

It's in response to continued incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area, which has led to concerns over the safety of both drivers and passengers.

Local Fianna Fail councillor Charlie O'Connor has said he supports bus drivers in tackling anti-social behaviour, but raised his concerns about the curtailment of the service on such a pivotal day for Ireland.

He said: "I am seriously concerned about the threat to route 27 on Election Day and I have brought my concerns to the attention of the Garda Superintendent and Dublin Bus Management.

“I am very supportive of the bus drivers and condemn the anti-social behaviour, but I would plead with the NBRU not to cancel the bus service to Jobstown on Saturday because many people will be relying on the services to go and cast their votes.

“In recent months the bus drivers have not been getting the required assistance to deal with the rising levels of anti-social on public transport and I fully understand this frustration, but this action will have an impact of voters looking to use the service to get to and from their local polling station and also looking to go about their day to day business.

"It will cause a lot of disruption if it goes ahead."
