Concacaf Fines Inter Miami CF For Lack Of Security Breach.

Leo Messi with his award

Concacaf announced sanctions against Inter Miami CF on Wednesday for an incident that occurred after the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal clash against Monterrey on April 3 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Following the final whistle, Monterrey assistant coach stated that there was a dispute involving Lionel Messi and head coach Gerardo Martino approaching the referees to contest calls made during the match. This escalated further when Miami's 2-1 loss to Monterrey led to an incident where Messi reportedly angrily approached the visitors' locker room and began yelling.

After conducting an investigation and gathering evidence, Concacaf fined Inter Miami CF for a 'lack of security' in their stadium. The disciplinary committee reviewed reports from match officials and statements from both clubs before imposing the undisclosed fine. In a statement, Concacaf mentioned that the fine was based on the competition's regulations and the applicable Disciplinary Code.

Concacaf also issued a warning to Inter Miami, indicating that more severe sanctions could be imposed if a similar situation were to occur in future competitions. Monterrey had previously lodged a complaint with Concacaf regarding the incident and requested sanctions against Inter Miami. The South Florida team was informed of the fine while in Monterrey for the second leg of their Champions Cup tie.
