Con artists targeting vulnerable people in Perth and Kinross

Con artists are tricking their way into the homes of elderly people and stealing from them in Kinross-shire.

Perth and Kinross Council has put out warnings about the activities of criminals using confidence tricks on vulnerable residents after incidents were reported in both Kinross and Milnathort.

In a social media post on Wednesday, a council spokesperson said: “We have received reports of people calling at the doors of elderly residents in Kinross and Milnathort who have tricked their way inside homes, before stealing quantities of money.

“There have been at least four similar incidents over the last week.

“Callers pretend to know the victims before asking to come in for a cup of tea or while they wait for a bus.

“Please be alert and do not let anyone you don’t know into you home.”

Tayside Police have been made aware of the recent incidents.

The advice for all is if anyone suspicious calls at your door, or if you see anything suspicious, call Police Scotland on 101.
