Comprehensive review into road safety around schools to take place

North Lanarkshire Council is to undertake a comprehensive review into road safety around schools.

The review will look at ways to improve safety on the journey to school, including lowering speed limits in streets surrounding schools to 20mph.

It will also look at the introduction of mandatory parking regulations and the introduction and enforcement of regulations relating to yellow zig-zag lines outside schools.

The review team will include senior council staff, councillors from all political groups, and a representative from Police Scotland.

It will be led by Councillor Michael McPake.
