Reading forward Jordan Obita has criticised the decision to award a corner in the build-up to Nottingham Forest’s goal in the Sky Bet Championship clash.
The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw with the Royals at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, with Ben Watson scoring the opening goal of the game.
But there was to be more drama as the home side swiftly responded with a goal in the closing moments with what has been credited as an own goal from Tobias Figueiredo.
Forest remain in fifth place in the Sky Bet Championship table, and will now prepare to face Luton Town at the City Ground next Sunday.
Watson’s opener came from a corner with was awarded by referee Dean Whitestone, and Obita has slammed the decision to award the set piece to Forest which led to the Reds’ goal.
“We never give up,” Obita told the Reading Chronicle.
“We keep going and we try to score as many goals as we can.
“We were gutted when they scored. It wasn’t a corner in the first place. The officials got it completely wrong.
“We deserve it. That’s the spirit we have, we keep grafting. There’s no reason why we can’t keep pushing up.
“The belief in the squad is sky-high so we want to keep getting points and push closer towards the play-off places.”
