"Completely moronic" game sees pupils 'push each other into path of oncoming cars'

Parents are being warned about a "completely moronic" game that sees school children pushing each other in front of moving cars.

Headteachers in Dorset have written to parents following a series of worrying incidents reportedly spotted by concerned motorists.

One driver told the Dorset Echo : "Four times some idiot youth threw one of their peers into the path of my car... and I saw it happen on both sides of the road countless times.

"One particular genius shoved a young girl in front of a skip lorry; how on earth the driver stopped I do not know."

Another driver, Louise Wills, described a similar incident as "completely moronic behaviour."

Budmouth Academy principal David Herbert told the newspaper the school had been made aware of a number of incidents that put the safety of children at risk.

He said he had written to parents and contacted the police in the hope of avoiding an "unnecessary accident", the Echo reported.

Dorset Police reminded people of the potentially deadly risks of road accidents in a statement, adding the forced offered visits to schools to keep pupils aware of the dangers.

A spokeswoman said: "We are part of the Dorset Road Safe partnership that provides general road safety education and presentations to children in schools throughout the county between the ages of three and 18.

"We also provide immersive learning experiences at our Safewise centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth.

"With nearly 40,000 children killed or injured each year as a result of road accidents - we work with schoolchildren from an early age to try and instil the importance of road safety.

"The Dorset Road Safe partnership offers all schools the opportunity of road safety educational visits."
