Complaints prompt police to clamp and remove scores of untaxed cars from streets of Leith

Scores of untaxed cars have been clamped and removed from the streets of Leith following complaints made to police.

Community response officers and special constables working have been out and about targeting illegal vehicles on Rossie Place and Manderston Street.

The crackdown was carried out in support of a team from the DVLA, and police say "a number of vehicles were clamped and several seized".

Pictures shared on social media by Edinburgh Police North East show officers out and about targeting vehicles parked on the streets, several of which were at the Manderston Street arches.

They tweeted: "Following complaints Leith community cops response officers and Police Scotland special constables were out today in the support of DVLA targeting untaxed vehicles throughout Leith. A number of vehicles were clamped and several seized."

Edinburgh Live has previously reported how police embarked on a similar clamp down during a day of action with the DVLA in October.

A number of untaxed vehicles were removed from the streets of Leith following complaints from members of the public.
