Complaints over 'building site' sprawled across street for three weeks

Neighbours have voiced their upset after being “left with a building site” in the middle of their street for weeks.

Photos of a section of Dewlands Road in Seaforth show huge mounds of building sand, crates and bags, as well as plastic pedestrian barriers lying in the street.

One woman told the ECHO: “We’ve been left with a building site in the middle of the street.

“It’s an eyesore and it’s a hazard. And it’s been there more than three weeks now.

“I don’t know if there’s work being done because I never see anyone coming or going.”

She said she reported the “eyesore” to Sefton Council last week.

Another resident, who uses a wheelchair, said they’re having to completely avoid the area and that it is taking “much longer than usual” to get out anywhere.

Sefton Council said there are works being carried out, but that nobody was around when their officers visited.

A council spokesman said: “These materials are part of work being carried out by a private contractor to the rear of a neighbouring property.

“There was no-one present when our streets officer visited but they will call back again and speak to the contractor if they are present.”
