In the framework of the Italian language in the world, the Italian Embassy is holding a literary contest of unpublished "microstories" on the theme of cultural identity and the meeting between Eastern and Western cultures.
Anyone with a brief story to tell about their country and identity is invited to join. The stories can be of a place, an event, an encounter or a gesture that belongs to their culture, or an experience in a different world through which they rediscover their culture or find they prefer to forget it. Stories must have a maximum length of 20 lines with a maximum of 300 words, and are free in terms of form and genre but must have as a theme the culture, tradition, life, people and places of the East and West.
Authors are required to attach a brief biographical note (maximum 10 lines), as well as a declaration stating that they are the authors of the story they've sent and that the story is unpublished.
A jury made up of members of the panel and of the Italian-Thai cultural world will select the most significant stories, which will be published in an anthology. The jury will also give a special mention to the authors of the meritorious texts not included in the anthology.
The anthology will be presented in Thailand as part of the Week of the Italian Language in the World in the framework of the debate on "Stories Of The East, Stories Of The West", and later on in Italy.
The original stories can be written in Italian, Thai or English, and should be submitted to microracconti.italianfestival@gmail.com by May 15.
