'Competing with Antony' - Man United fans make Amad prediction after Sunderland wonder goal vs Coventry

Manchester United fans have once again called for Amad to be part of the first-team next season after he scored a stunning goal in Sunderland's defeat to Coventry on Saturday.

The 20-year-old scored his ninth goal of the season in all competitions as the Black Cats fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Coventry City - with the Ivorian curling home an effort from just inside the penalty area.

His spectacular goal in added time of the second half ultimately came too late for Sunderland, with the home side having made it 2-0 in the 89th minute through in-form striker Viktor Gyokeres. Despite this, Amad once again received plaudits for his performance in the game and fine finish late on in the clash.

Amad has impressed since joining the Black Cats on loan in the summer transfer window, and the young attacker has now registered nine goals and three assists for Sunderland. He is expected to return to United at the end of the campaign, with Erik ten Hag having spoken glowingly about the player.

Despite Antony and Jadon Sancho competing for a starting position on the right wing this term, Reds supporters are keen for Amad to be part of the first-team squad next season and fight for his place. Here is how some fans reacted to his goal and performance on social media...

Prior to the game against Coventry, Sunderland boss explained how he had told his players to try and make Amad's life easier in front of goal given the talent of the 20-year-old.

"I’m always telling our players to give him the ball, he doesn’t lose it, he does something that allows to attack, score or be creative," he told the Sunderland Echo. "I always believe that talent wins you football matches.

"Amad at Sunderland at this moment, and Patrick [Roberts] is the same, does things that normal players don’t do. So I want the team to work the ball into certain areas, to give it to the players that can make the difference."

Amad has made nine appearances for United's first-team since joining the club from Atalanta, registering one goal and one assist.
