An acting ACT Supreme Court judge has been remembered as "industrious, compassionate and stylish" following her sudden death.
Acting Justice Linda Ashford died in Sydney on Friday evening. The cause of her death has not been disclosed.
She had been due to commence a judge-alone trial on Monday morning, when Chief Justice Helen Murrell announced the death and paid tribute.
"Her Honour was an industrious, compassionate and stylish judge who took great interest in all whom she encountered," Chief Justice Murrell said.
"She will be sadly missed by her colleagues and staff at the Supreme Court and by her many friends in the broader judiciary."
Acting Justice Ashford was appointed to the ACT Supreme Court in 2014, following her retirement as a NSW District Court judge.
She held a number of other judicial roles during her career, including with the NSW Workers Compensation Commission, Compensation Court of NSW, and Dust Diseases Tribunal of NSW.
"Funeral service arrangements will be advised when they are known," Chief Justice Murrell said.
