Comparing Becky Lynch and Conor McGregor is 'lazy' according to WWE superstar

WWE Women's Champion Becky Lynch has slammed comparisons to UFC megastar Conor McGregor but admits that he would 'fit right in' to pro wrestling if he did make the switch.

'The Man' defends her Raw Women's Championship against Natalya at Summerslam on August 11th, and insists that people likening her to McGregor are lazy.

Lynch - who won the main event of WrestleMania 35, the first ever all-female main event of the wrestling show - said that she was bored of being told she is similar to the Crumlin man.

"We both have Irish accents and we're confident and we're really good at what we do," Lynch said.

"So I think people will always compare us.

"There's always people going to say I'm like Stone Cold Steve Austin, I'm not, I'm like Conor McGregor, I'm not, those seem to be the top pointers.

"Everybody uses these time and time again, give me something original please."

However, 'The Man' did admit that she would be happy to see her fellow countryman join her in the squared circle, and claims he takes a lot of his influence from the world of pro wrestling.

"Conor McGregor is absolutely wonderful in terms of his personality," Lynch told Irish Mirror. "I think he would fit right in.

"I think he's taken a lot of influence from pro wrestling and it has served him well to make him the biggest star the UFC has ever had, and that just shows you the power of pro wrestling."

Becky Lynch has trained in McGregor's SBG Ireland gym with coach John Kavanagh, and the MMA supremo was glowing in his praise of the 32-year-old earlier this year , saying she has 'a star quality' similar to The Notorious.

And speaking in response to his comments, Lynch said "John Kavanagh is an absolute legend, he's incredible and I was honoured to hear the things he said about me.

"I think the World of him, he's an incredible coach and it's no wonder he has had the success that he's had with his fighters.

"To hear him speak highly of me meant a lot."
