Company struggling during coronavirus pandemic goes into administration with loss of 47 jobs

An Avonmouth transport company has fallen into administration and all 47 members of staff are being made redundant.

Drive Force UK, a 21-year-old, freight and logistics business based on Boundary Road, has appointed corporate recovery firm Begbies Traynor as administrators.

Paul Wood and Simon Haskew, partners at Begbies, are managing the winding up of the business, which fell into financial difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The company had been experiencing significant financial difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and was unable to meet its outstanding costs, " Mr Wood told industry website MotorTransport.

“Despite using the government’s furlough scheme for a number of months, sadly the business had no viable prospect of a return to future trading.”

Drive Force UK was founded in 1999 and specialised in bulk car and HGV distribution and storage in the UK and Europe.

According to the MotorTransport website, Drive Force UK had a standard international licence covering three operating centres - two in Exeter and one at its main Bristol depot - where it was authorised to run 25 HGVs.

The company provided logistics services to the automotive sector, including manufacturer operations and port deliveries, auction collection and deliveries, and rental deliveries.
