Companies plan to bring up to 80 per cent back to work in stage one

Employers are planning to bring between 30% and 80% of their staff back to work in the first phase out of lockdown, new research suggests.

A survey of more than 100 companies found that most would be asking around a third of their staff to go back to work following the Government’s latest guidance.

Gavin Wiseman, of back to work programme Healthy Return, said its study revealed the size of the problem the country could face with so many employees expected to return to the workplace in the coming weeks.

He said: “All employers are aware that without extremely strict social distancing and effective personal protective equipment, the risk of the coronavirus spreading is extremely high.

“Sadly, many employers have no choice – to stay afloat they need their workforce back in the physical workplace as soon as possible.”
