Community unites to support family of North Shields teenager Seesha Dack

A fundraising drive has been launched to help support the family of "amazing" and "beautiful" teenager Seesha Dack.

The 15-year-old's body was discovered close to Tanners' Bank in North Shields, North Tyneside, on Tuesday evening following an extensive search after she was reported missing.

Her family and friends were left heartbroken and an emotional tribute was paid to her on Wednesday when hundreds of people gathered at the Fish Quay and balloons were released into the sky in her memory.

Now Claire McMurray, a close friend of Seesha's mum, is leading efforts to raise funds for the family. She is planning to hold a raffle and is appealing for donations of prizes from businesses.

A Facebook page has been set up, titled 'Fundraising to give Seesha the best send off that she deserves', where people can contact Claire and find out how to make donations.

A number of businesses have already come forward and offered prizes. In addition, a collection bucket has been placed at the B&M store in Whitley Bay town centre and any prizes can be dropped off at Mary Mary's Tanning salon in Wallsend town centre.

Claire, 36, of Battle Hill, said she decided to do this to help take pressure off the family at such a difficult time. She described Seesha as a person with "the biggest heart".

"She was absolutely amazing," said Claire. "She would do anything for anyone and had the kindest heart ever.

"I just wanted to do something to help her family and people in the community also want to help out.

"I thought this was a good way of doing it. I'm asking local businesses for donations that could be given away as prizes, such as vouchers, meals or hampers, and I will then be selling raffle tickets.

"We want to try and raise as much as we can to give Seesha the best send-off."

To help or make a donation, visit this Facebook page and make a request to join the group.
