Raid at Nottingham Bargain Booze sparks concern

Customers at a Nottingham shop have been left surprised after a convenience store was robbed. Two men ordered a worker at Bargain Booze, in Road, Dunkirk, to empty the till at around 6.20am on September 9.

After threatening the man, money and alcohol were then taken from the store before the alarm was triggered - causing the offenders to flee the scene.

"I'm surprised to hear that," said Amanta Jose, 25, who regularly shops at the store. "I haven't heard of anything like this incident round here before.

"It's usually quite a quiet area." Isabel Ellis, a 22-year-old student who recently moved into the area, added: "I haven't had any issues so far, I thought it seemed quite friendly and nice, so it's a bit of a surprise."

Nottinghamshire Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. Detective Constable Tim Townsend said: “This was a frightening incident for the employee who was only going about his job.

“No one should be threatened while simply doing their job and that is why we are determined to track down whoever is responsible. We believe the men in these images may have information that will greatly help with our investigations and urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the force on 101, quoting incident 77 of September 9 or, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
