Community reeling after teens killed in Secret Harbour crash

Mason Hooton and Callum Mummery died in the crash.

The community of Secret Harbour in Perth's south is still reeling after a crash which claimed the lives of two teenagers and left a third fighting for his life.

Mason Hooton, 16, and Callum Mummery, 17, were killed when a 19-year-old friend lost control of the car he was driving on a bend on Secret Harbour Boulevard and ploughed into a tree.

The crash happened about 7.30pm on Friday.

The two teenagers died at the scene and a third passenger, Shaun Sparrow, 16, remains in hospital with critical injuries.

The driver escaped serious injury and left hospital on Sunday.

All four of the teenagers were students or former students at Comet Bay College high school in Secret Harbour.

Police said it was too early to say what caused the crash, but officers from the Major Crime unit were investigating

Family and friends have been laying flowers and tributes at the scene over the weekend.

Many have also been posting social media tributes including Mason Hooton's father Mick who posted a photo of his son on Facebook with the message, "Love you mate".

Callum's friend, Tommy Ray Slater wrote on Facebook "Can't believe your gone, still hoping that I'd wake up and all had been a nightmare".

While a friend of Mason's, Ben Hahn, wrote "You had such a kind heart and it kills to know that someone I know so well is gone so unexpectedly".

The City of Mandurah Australian Air Force Cadets said it would fly the flag at half-mast and observe one minute of silence at their next parade on Wednesday in honour of Callum.

"Cadet Sergeant Callum Mummery was a respected member of 707SQN from February 2014 until February 2017," a tribute post read.

"He exemplified the cadet experience, embracing the opportunities that the AAFC offers and becoming an excellent role model for younger cadets."
