Community nurse wanted for remote Scottish island with tiny population

A community nurse is needed to work on a remote Scottish island with a tiny population of just 170 people.

NHS Highland are hiring for a rural nurse to work on Raasay - which is accessed by ferry from Skye.

It's the second time the position has become available, after an unsuccessful recruitment drive in 2015.

At the moment, despite a community campaign for years, the island is served by medics travelling from Skye. There's one GP surgery held on a Wednesday, and three district nurses working Monday to Friday on a rota, the Scotsman reports.

The successful nurse would be expected to work mainly on their own with medical support from GPs in Portree and Rural Practitioners in MacKinnon Memorial Hospital, Broadford when required.

The nurse would be working with children through to the elderly, and you would be the first clinician at the scene of any emergency.

The job is full-time permanent, more information can be found here .
