Community in shock after sudden death of 'bubbly' young Kilkenny girl

Tributes have been pouring in after the sudden death of a young Kilkenny girl.

Sarah Dobbyn from Kilkenny city sadly passed away on Thursday.

And the local Kilkenny Rugby Club was among the first to pay tribute to the "bubbly" youngster, who played on the U16 team.

They wrote on Facebook: "Kilkenny Rugby Club are saddened to hear about the passing of our U16 girls player Sarah Dobbyn. She will be sadly missed within the club and also by all those who knew and loved this bubbly girl with an infectious laugh.

"We pass on our Condolences to her parents PJ and Vivienne, brothers Luke and AJ and to her extended family and friends."

While Clara Camogie Club said they were also left stunned by the tragic news.

They added: "Clara Camogie Club are deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Sarah Dobbyn.

"Sarah was a valued member of our U14 & U16 Camogie Panels this year and her infectious laugh and kind-hearted nature warmed everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.

"She will be dearly missed by her teammates, coaches and the wider Clara community. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to her mother Vivienne, father PJ, her brothers Luke and AJ, her extended family and wide circle of friends.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis."

And Sarah's family have confirmed that her funeral mass will be held in Clara on Sunday morning.

A post on RIP.ie reads: "Sarah, beloved daughter of PJ and Vivienne and dear sister of Luke and AJ, sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her grandparents Eileen (Dobbyn) and Michael and Christina (Doyle), aunts and uncles, her cousins, extended family and her many friends.

"May Sarah's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

"In keeping with current Government / HSE guidelines regarding public gatherings, a private family Funeral will take place for Sarah, with the Requiem Mass being celebrated at 11am on Sunday (Nov. 15th) in St. Colman's Church, Clara with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery."
