During the burial service at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, hundreds of individuals, many of whom did not know Brooks personally, gathered to pay their respects. The ceremony included a bagpiper, a pilot performing a flyover, and military groups providing full honors.

Patriot Guard Riders escorted Brooks' hearse, while the Veterans of Foreign Wars paid tribute with a 21-gun salute. The outpouring of support from the community was described as a heartwarming display of unity and respect.

Despite little being known about Brooks' life, the community came together to ensure he received a dignified farewell. The funeral director who organized the call for help expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response, stating that it renewed her faith in humanity.
