Community delighted as Shiremoor gets a brand new family-run coffee shop

After a number of months in the making, a successful Shiremoor businesswoman has delighted locals by launching a brand new coffee shop in the heart of the community.

Sharron Liddle was already an established member of the Shiremoor community, thanks to her highly successful Envy Hair and Beauty Studios on Earsdon Road - but now, she has bolstered her business ventures further - opening the Liddle & Co Coffee House directly next door.

Opening the doors for the very first time on Saturday morning, Sharron hopes that the new hub will give members of the Shiremoor community a haven to meet up, relax and unwind - with very little else nearby to do so in.

Speaking to ChronicleLive ahead of the opening, Sharron said: "I've actually got the hair and beauty salon next door. I've been in business since 2010 with that, and obviously this unit became available last year. Knowing the area, knowing the clientele, they've always said that it's something that they haven't had around here.

"No sort of community hub type of thing - nowhere for people to just kind of come and sit and have a chat. You've got a drive thru Costa, but apart from that there's nothing really."

She added: "It's something that people have said that they've wanted so it was just waiting for the right opportunity to come along."

And members of the local community have also already complemented Sharron and her husband Ken on their brilliant new business opportunity, telling her how excited they are for the future of Earsdon Road. She added: "We've had real positive feedback. Literally while we've been working in here over the last few months, everybody's been stopping to chat.

"They've all been really, really positive. Just this morning I'm outside and I've been stopped by about three or four people - you know, 'what time are you opening?' and 'that'll be really good, I can't wait'. There's obviously a lot of excitement."

The coffee house on 14 Earsdon Road will be open from 8.00am until 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday. At the new café, people can enjoy a range of hot drinks as well as fresh cakes and baked goods.
