A community chemist in Stoke-on-Trent has been sold to a growing pharmacy group.
Ridgways Chemist, in Baddeley Green, has been snapped up by Secret Potions Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
The community pharmacy - which dispenses an average of 11,000 items a month - was previously owned by founding pharmacist, Christopher Ridgway, who decided to sell the business ahead of his retirement.
Secret Potions - which owns and operates more than a dozen pharmacies predominantly in the Staffordshire region - has now taken ownership of the chemist. It was sold off an asking price of £1.25 million plus freehold.
Mr Ridgway said: "After 30 years of owning my pharmacy I knew the time had come to hang up my boots, but found it a daunting prospect. With Christie & Co on board, everything happened quickly, and we received many offers in just four weeks."
Carl Steer, director at property specialist Christie & Co, which handled the sale, said: "From an initial call and meeting to completion, it was a total pleasure to deal with Chris, and so we were very pleased he achieved such a positive outcome for his exemplary pharmacy.
