Hundreds have gathered at Flinders Memorial Park in Lara to mourn four children killed in a fire at their home in Werribee.
Four white coffins were transported in three hearses from Al-Taqwa Mosque in Truganina to the memorial park.
Inside was 10-year-old Hamid, six-year-old Esin, three-year-old Nadir and one-year-old Elaine Turgem.
Prayers were said and tears flowed as the coffins were carried overhead of family and friends before being laid to rest.
A cousin, Mohmed Mougadam, who is also the chair of the Nuba community, said it was a sad day for them and all of Australia.
"So [this loss] is the country's loss."
Mr Mougadam said a fundraiser to help the family had reached nearly $400,000.
"Australian people, they are great … they contribute financially, positively to the family," he said.
Mr Mougadam said the family's father, Najm Eldin Turgem, had done everything to try to save his children, but couldn't.
He urged the community to get behind the family in the time ahead.
"They are not going to replace the four kids, but … to support him socially."
Al-Taqwa College principal Omar Hallak said the whole community was affected by the tragedy.
"Really, we feel sorry," he said.
Mr Turgem was distraught at the funeral, seen being hugged and consoled by fellow mourners.
Police are still investigating the cause of the blaze last week in Werribee. Just one child, eight-year-old Ibrahim, survived the fire.
Flowers and toys have been left at the scene, where neighbours, family and friends paid tributes to the children calling them "beautiful kids".
