Community alert warns of armed robberies in Rogers Park

Jan. 24--Police are warning businesses in the Rogers Park neighborhood after two pizza delivery drivers were robbed last weekend by two or three armed men.

The first attack happened about 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street, according to a community alert issued by police.

Another one occurred at 8:10 p.m. the following day in the 7700 block of North Marshfield Avenue, the alert said.

In the Paulina Street incident, the victim entered a vestibule of a building, and three men came down the stairs, robbed the driver at gunpoint and fled.

Two of the men were described as being black and between the ages of 20 and 22, and 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10. They were thin, wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks. The physical description of the third robber was the same, but police did not know what he was wearing.

In the other robbery, when the victim called the phone number associated with the order while in a building courtyard, two robbers emerged from the gangway and robbed him at gunpoint before fleeing, the alert said.

The two robbers were black men between the ages of 25 and 28, about 5-foot-6, and wearing black baseball caps, black jackets and beige pants, the alert said.
