Communications director appointed at team behind Siemens and RB launches

A leading regional PR consultancy has made a senior appointment to its growing team as it builds on work with major investors.

Rick Lyon has joined Meehan Media & Comms as communications director from Bishop Burton College, where he was marketing director and part of the strategic leadership group.

He will work closely with managing director and founder John Meehan to build on the agency’s track record of supporting businesses at the heart of the area’s exciting resurgence and to accelerate the company’s growth.

His eponymous firm has worked with global giants Siemens and RB as they have delivered the region’s most significant investments in decades.

A highly experienced and skilled PR, media and marketing executive, he is also a former multi-award winning journalist, having spent 14 years at the Hull Daily Mail, working under John, a former editor.

“We’re delighted to bring Rick on board,” said John. “His experience and skills add considerably to our already unrivalled expertise within the Hull and Humber region to deliver highly effective PR and communications activity and campaigns.

“We’re proud to be the comms partner of choice for the region’s biggest inward investors and many of the area’s leading businesses who are at the forefront of the area’s regeneration.

“Rick’s appointment provides the additional capacity and capability to build on our success and grow further.”

Meehan Media & Comms handled all local and regional media and communications for Siemens Gamesa’s £310 million offshore wind manufacturing, assembly and logistics centre in Hull and is now the regional PR partner for the £200 million rail manufacturing facility being developed by Siemens Mobility in Goole.

It has also delivered PR and media relations for the recent opening of RB’s £105 million Science and Innovation Centre in Hull. Prominent local clients include commercial property developer Wykeland Group and housebuilder Beal Homes, and their £80 million regeneration of Hull’s Fruit Market waterfront district as a joint venture.

Rick said: “This is a great opportunity for me to join a PR and communications consultancy with an outstanding track record and unrivalled client roster.

“Hull and the Humber is enjoying unprecedented and ongoing investment and Meehan Media & Comms has played a positive and important role as the area’s leading PR and communications provider.

“I’m really excited by the opportunities we have to work with existing and new clients who are leaders within the region and in their industries.”

Meehan Media & Comms is based at the C4DI tech hub.
